Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and you can already put money down for it. The Royal Edition is listed for 2027 with a $59.99 preorder price at Amazon, according to IGN's preorder guide, which went live on September 21. PLAION Polska pushed the announcement out the same day with a link to its own preorder page. There is still no release date, which means you are paying a deposit on a game with a year-sized question mark attached.
What the Royal Edition actually includes
The Switch 2 package is not a bare port. Nintendo of America describes it as the full base game, all the story expansions, exclusive gear and a bonus questline, and IGN spells out the list. You get The Lion's Crest Quest, the Gallant Huntsman's Kit, Shields of Seasons Passing, and three story expansions: Brushes with Death, Legacy of the Forge and Mysteria Ecclesiae. For a single $59.99 charge that is a complete edition, and it removes the usual shopping cart game of buying the base game and then chasing DLC one piece at a time.
The bundle framing also tells you how the publisher sees this release. Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios are not treating the Switch 2 version as a lightweight side project, they are packaging it as the definitive way to own the whole story. That is a smart pitch for people who skipped the game on PC and console and want everything in one box. It is also a pitch that only works if the game runs well, and nobody has shown us how it runs on Nintendo hardware yet.
The game-key card catch
Here is the part you should read before you preorder. IGN notes the Switch 2 version ships as a game-key card, which means the cartridge does not contain the game. You slot it in and download the game, so the physical piece is a license token rather than the actual software. The one upside IGN points out is that unlike a digital purchase, you can still resell the card later.
I have zero patience for this format when it is dressed up as a physical release. If you care about owning something that works without a download or a server, this edition is not what you think it is. So the Switch 2 crowd is getting a game the rest of the market has already vetted, which is the safest kind of preorder if the port holds up.
The timing is the awkward bit. The game came out well over a year before this edition lands, and a 2027 window with no date means Switch 2 owners are waiting even longer than the PC crowd did to see it. The platform has been building a library of ports and third party big hitters, and this fits that pattern, but a preorder page this early feels like a retailer testing demand more than a publisher confirming a schedule. Anything you buy now is a bet that the date shows up and the performance is decent.

Community reaction looks limited and mixed rather than a clear verdict. Under Nintendo's original announcement post, replies range from plain excitement to a request that Warhorse also bring a Switch 2 patch to the first Kingdom Come. One person joked that Switch 2 owners will need a time machine to get through the wait, and another grumbled about frame rate, though no performance figures have been confirmed, so treat that as worry rather than fact. I only saw a handful of replies on each side, which is not enough to call a consensus.

On content and price, this is a good deal. $59.99 for the base game, three expansions and a bonus quest is a fair ask for a game that people still rate highly more than a year after launch. On format and timing, it is a mixed bag. A game-key card at a full price, no release date and no performance details is a lot of asking for trust up front.

If you were going to buy this on Switch 2 anyway, preorder from a retailer with a clean cancellation policy and keep your money flexible until Warhorse and Deep Silver show real gameplay running on the hardware. If you already own it somewhere else, there is no rush and no reason to double dip on a promise. Either way, the important thing is that a huge medieval RPG is heading to Nintendo's newest console, and the next thing we need is a date and a look at how it actually plays.
