Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor Expansion Drops August 14 With a Young Salieri

Hangar 13 and 2K are pulling a clever move with the first paid expansion for Mafia: The Old Country. Instead of pushing protagonist Enzo Favara into yet another uncharted Sicilian village, Man of Honor hands the spotlight to a younger, scrappier Ennio Salieri, the very same Don fans spent three games and a remake chasing in Lost Heaven. The expansion lands August 14, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99, and it is the most interesting reason to revisit the game since launch.

PlayStation dropped the first gameplay today via an official post on the PlayStation Blog from design director Josh Zammit. The clip shows Enzo working a job from Salieri in a warehouse in Porto Almaro, with turn-of-the-century automobiles, lupara shotguns, and that grime-coated Hangar 13 cinematography. It is short, but the gunplay has clearly been tuned to give stealth players a real reason to throw knives, and the new character work on Salieri feels far more grounded than the base game's introspective Enzo arc.

What you actually get for ten bucks

Man of Honor ships with two new story chapters set in the early days of Enzo's service to the Torrisi family, with Ennio Salieri as a playable partner you team up with to settle old scores. Set in the winter of 1905, the chapters drop Enzo and Cesare into a delicate job: helping the recently-released Salieri claw his way back into power in Valle Dorata after prison. The DLC is canon to the original Mafia timeline, which is the kind of fan service that costs almost nothing to deliver and lands huge for anyone who played the 2002 original.

Beyond the two narrative chapters, expansion owners get a fresh pile of Free Ride content built around Salieri as the new point of contact. There are two new contract types: Salieri's Challenges, which are higher-difficulty takes on the existing Free Ride challenge format with amped-up enemy density, and Salieri's Jobs, a set of brand-new mission types that include hunting hidden loot caches, towing high-value vehicles back to the warehouse, and delivering stolen trucks full of fragile cargo. New collectible Wanted Posters that use members of the Hangar 13 dev team in period-accurate mugshots, new Stunt Jumps you can launch from in your early motorcars, and sulfur-laden supply trucks you can blow up round out the open-world content for anyone who wants to soak up more of the Valle Dorata map.

New toys, period-accurate-ish

The standout gear piece is the Rimbalzu throwing knife, which bounces to a second target so a stealth player can quietly drop two enemies with one throw. Hangar 13 admits the bounce is a gameplay liberty, but says the fun factor justifies the period fudge. Alongside the knife you get a full new set of outfits, Charms, weapons, vehicles, and horses, all exclusive to the expansion. None of it is paywalled behind microtransactions, which is increasingly rare for 2K in 2026.

The base game is currently 40 percent off on Steam at $35.99 USD, so anyone who held off on the August 2025 release can grab the full package and the expansion for under fifty bucks total. That discount is also scheduled to run through August 14, lining up with the Man of Honor launch. The Steam page also shows the existing Padrino and Gatto Nero cosmetic packs at $57.90 each, so a fully-loaded Old Country build with the new DLC clocks in well under what most AAA games charge for cosmetics alone these days.

The PlayStation reveal post has roughly 156 likes and 41k views a few hours after going live, and the immediate replies on X are split between Mafia fans who want a physical release of The Old Country and a few who simply want more of Salieri as a character. There is no organized backlash and no real controversy, which is a nice change of pace from the usual DLC discourse. The handful of reactions on the ResetEra thread, the YouTube community tab, and the PS blog comments all skew positive, with most complaints aimed at Hangar 13's DLC cadence in general rather than Man of Honor specifically. Reaction is still limited, since the deeper impressions will land once the embargo lifts and the early review preview coverage arrives next week.

Man of Honor is the right size for the right price, and Hangar 13 finally seems comfortable leaning into the older Mafia timeline instead of trying to invent new corners of the universe.
